Old Baldy Update

The project to replace the aging bolts and anchors continues at Old Baldy. The team of volunteers has made steady progress and although work is ongoing and certain upgrades remain to be done, the following routes have new bolts and anchors:

  • Split Leggings
  • Undomesticated
  • Saliari’s Revenge
  • Jagged Edge
  • Pins and Needles
  • Amadeus Rocks
  • Neo Nautilus
  • Optical Delusion
  • Bear on a Wire
  • A Shot Across the Bow
  • Labour Pains
  • Baggers jig
  • Crystalline
  • Laplacian Ballroom

The OAC, the re-bolting volunteers, and Grey Sauble Conservation Authority look forward to completing this project with the donations from MEC and are excited to collaborate further in order to make climbing safer and minimize impact such that our natural areas will remain (if not made more) beautiful for all outdoor enthusiasts!

True North hosts OAC at Reel Rock film tour

On Saturday, November 27th, True North Climbing gym hosted the Reel Rock film tour. Volunteers from the OAC were on hand at this great event, not just to see the films but to help raise awareness of climbing access in Ontario. Thanks to the support of the many existing and new OAC members who attended the event and participated in the raffle for the new Black Diamond harness, and thanks to True North for inviting us!

If you haven’t yet taken the time to become an OAC member please take a moment to sign-up (see the Membership tab) and add your name to the growing list of climbers in support of preserving climbing in Ontario.
