Morning Pilates: Wake Up & Start Moving Well!

by Sacha Karlewicz Does your warm up consist of some hasty shoulder shrugs and arm circles while tied into the bottom of your first route?? Maybe try something new. Warm up with muscle, joint and facial stimulation. In other words, stimulate muscles and joints to increase your proprioception, heat up your joints with osteoarticular movements and increase facial release and hydration with gentle movements. Using Franklin Method™ balls and bands, we’ll go head to toe to liven up the knees, open up the hips, move the spine and shoulders in all 3-dimensions. Free your fascia along the way! There will be a sprinkling of classical Pilates and balance exercises. Get your body ready for climbing and LIFE! What is the Franklin Method? This method of exercise, created by Eric Franklin, focuses on how the body is designed to move based on biomechanics and evolution. The Franklin Method system improves function producing safer and more efficient movement. When: Saturday, August 17, 9am Cost: FREE, no registration necessary Location: Meet on the grassy area at the front of the farm.

Afternoon Pilates Class: Restore!

by Sacha Karlewicz Learn valuable techniques to cool down and restore your body after a morning (day) of climbing. We’ll work on putting the body back together using ELDOA™ exercises and stretches that focus on hips, spine, neck and shoulders. You’ll get your toes moving independently again. (Those darn climbing shoes!) What is ELDOA? Created by osteopath Guy VOYER, this method uses different postures to target specific segments of the spine. The aim is to release pressure on the targeted area. This release of pressure is called decoaptation. Decoaptation: To create space (relatively or absolutely) between two surfaces. The ELDOA postures uses a person’s unique body to create a tensegral pull on the fascial chains resulting in decoaptation thus reducing pain and increasing a sense of well being. When: Saturday, August 17, 4:30pm Cost: FREE, no registration necessary Location: Meet on the grassy area at the front of the farm.
